In the area called “Dambul romanilor” was identified and investigated The Roman thermal complex dating from the Roman period. “Mamelonul de travertin” and tuff were the thermae were identified has a circular diameter of 90-95 m. In Roman times the complex operated in two phases: an exclusive surface one and the second in underground and surface.

In the center of the “Mamelonului de travertin” is a natural cavity, as a result of underground thermal water activity, which in antiquity was filled with thermal water. The Romans set up a network of channels for directing water from the source to the ponds dug in the ground and lined with boards, underlying the “Mamelonul de travertin” or in the immediate vicinity.
From this moment the “Lake” became a place of worship here being discovered several silver and bronze coins and 8 gold votive plaques dedicated to the healing goddess and protectors of thermal waters. A statue of Diana the Goddess and votive altars were arranged around the cavity and the sacred area.

After several fluctuations of water level in the cavity, it has stabilized at about 2 m below the baseline. The solution that provides the continuing use of the baths was digging a system of mining galleries (oriented north-south) and its arrangement as necessary.

The complex thermal activity will continue in future periods due to its curative waters and picturesque landscape.
